Pacific Northwest artist Janice Wagner returns to the Salmon Center with classes scheduled from September 2013 through June 2014. An artist for over 25 years, Janice is a certified arts educator with a master’s degree in arts education. Janice has taught students and adults of all ages and says that, “Talent is somewhat of a myth. Natural tendencies exist, but if people love something, they practice and eventually get good at it. The bottom line is, anyone can learn.”
The Salmon Center is pleased to partner with Janice. “Janice’s expertise is a true asset to the community and her classes at the Salmon Center help connect students with nature,” says Executive Director Mendy Harlow.
Janice is particularly pleased to be teaching at the facility, stating that, “The Salmon Center property offers a unique opportunity for students to develop their creativity, while learning to be good stewards of the environment.”
This year, Janice has added several classes designed specifically for the older student. Drawing People in a Historical Context teaches figure drawing and portraiture, while learning about local settlers, their jobs, activities and social lives. In the spring, a Multimedia Workshop has been added, that will introduce mosaic art, clay, and small books. The class, Painting and Color, begins September 17th.
