Although summer is coming to a close, our garden at the Salmon Center is still producing large amounts of certified organic fresh vegetables, and our seedless grapes are finally ripe and sweet! In our upper garden, we have three varieties of beets (Touchstone Gold, Merlin, and Chiogga) that are ready to be harvested, as well as crookneck and patty-pan summer squash, and rainbow Swiss chard. Our high-tunnel is still boasting several types of heirloom tomatoes, four varieties of cucumbers, ground cherry tomatillos, and jalapeno peppers. On our office building, we have two varieties of green grapes growing. Currently, our Thompson Seedless grapes are ripe and ready to be eaten but our Niagara Seeded grapes are not quite ripe enough yet. The two varieties have a similar appearance, so please do not hesitate to ask our farm intern, Christina, or another staff member for assistance distinguishing between the two so that you are able to take home exactly what you want! As a reminder, all of our organic produce is being sold by donation this year. Stop by our farm at 600 Roessel Rd NE, Belfair, WA Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm to pick some fresh fruit and veggies before they’re all gone!
