Would you like to become a Disaster Risk Ranger?

A new program is being launched this summer hosted by HCSEG.  A group of local high school students will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction;
  • Learn about natural and human-made hazards;
  • Learn home hazard detective skills;
  • Learn how to identify risks
  • Develop risk reduction skills; and,
  • Develop a local risk reduction project and action plan.

The workshop will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday, August 13 -16 and August 18.  Lunch will be provided.  The first four days will be devoted to learning about hazards and developing risk reduction skills and strategies.  Participants will select a project of their choice and draft a plan.  On Saturday, the project action plan will be presented and certificates awarded to all active participants.
